I’ve really very much enjoyed tumblr. It’s the most customizable blog service I’ve ever seen, and having Twistmyfate.com hosted on it has been a lot of fun. However, I think it’s about time I go back to using the domain space I’m actually paying for. My friend George aka Burn has been designing me a super cool theme for Word Press, and it’s about time I join the rest of the blogging world and convert everything over to WP. I’m going to miss Tumblr a little bit. I wonder if it will miss me too.

Anyhow, with the conversion to WP I will be adding actual content to the site. (Eventually) and I’ll probably be opening up hosting again. Horray, get your own blah.twistmyfate.com address and host your site with me! Or not. Either way I’ll still love you.

Everyone should be on the lookout over the weekend or early next week for my new layout and website to launch. I’m super excited for it!

My Hero / Idol

So, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce all of you to my idol / hero - person-thing. His name is Bryce Avary of The Rocket Summer. TRS / Bryce is a one man band, he plays, composes, and records all of the instruments on his albums as well as writes the lyrics and sings.

Bryce is a musical genius — that’s why he’s my idol. The below video is of a loop song in which he plays an instrumental part and then a machine loops it once he’s done. I was fortunate enough to be at a concert and see this spectacle live. The below youtube video was the best thing I could find that could even remotely capture it’s amazing-ness.

My new shift.

Currently, until May 30th I’m working at Comcast from 12:30 to 9 PM. This shift pays a bonus shift differential of 50 cents. This brings me to 11.50 an hour, plus commissions. Now, this is only a temporary shift until I get to bid on my new shift in the upcoming shift bid, which I did today.

They scheduled me to do my shift bid on my day off, which sucks. Instead of driving there I called it in. Now since I’m a newbie it means I ranked very close to last on the list. Meaning I got the leftovers of the leftover shifts! They told me the EARLIEST shift that started was at 2:30 PM. If I start after 3 I get a dollar extra an hour. Sooo my new shift is 3:30 pm to 12:00 AM, with Sunday’s and Wednesday’s off. It’s not soo bad!

Uhm, I may be switching to WP soon. It depends on if my friend George really makes me a layout or not. So, uh, cross your fingers?

Work Rules My Life (Life Updates)

Comcast is slowly starting to rule my life. Not really, it just feels that way. I’ve finally been fully trained in all aspects of the call center and can theoretically take any call that comes in. I’ve not started what we call “nesting”. That means I’m taking calls like I would if I were on the regular call center floor for four weeks only we have two escalation assistants who will help us if we run into any problems. Fun stuff. If you live in the South Florida area and you call the call center, there’s a slight chance you may here me say “Thank-You for calling Comcast. My name is Justin. How can I help you?” in my super enthusiastic tone! Yaay!

Aside from the whole job thing my life’s been going good. My boyfriend Dani and I celebrated our “month-a-versary” yesterday. Although he’s still up in Palatka, FL where he lives. We plan to have him move down and in with me in about a month or so. I’m super excited. Horray!

I’m really into American Idol this season for the first time. I’ve never really watched a whole season, but this time I am. Normally, I just watch the finale. It’s become a “family time” thing we my mother. Every Tuesday and Wednesday we sit down, make dinner, and watch Idol and vote for our favorites. I’ve got to tell you that my favorite right now (and prob. will remain) is Adam Lambert. If you don’t watch Idol, go to YouTube and watch this man sing. It’s awesome.

My financial situation is (starting) to look up. Hopefully it will maintain this positive flow and I’ll be out of debt in about 100 years! (Haha.)

In website news… I really got nothing. I want to redo the layout and add content. I mean I do have a server/host with cPanel and all.. but I really like Tumblr and I think I’m going to keep it as the homepage or at least the blog page. I’ve thought about switching to WP but I’m not all too sure on that. I also want more affiliates. So anyone who wants to be “affies” should email me!

Your light switch is your vote! March 28th (tomorrow) from 8:30 - 9:30 PM is Earth Hour. This means that for these sixty moments of your life, you should turn out every light in your house. The point of this is to save energy and help stop (or rather slow down) Global Warming.

The whole process is being organized by the WWF (that’s World Wildlife Fund, not the wrestling people. :P) If you participate in earth hour it counts as a vote. The goal is one billion votes and all votes will be presented to the World Leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

How will they know that you have shut off your lights and “voted” you ask? Logging your vote is easy! You can record your vote by posting a blog during the event, taking pictures, recording a video, or updating your twitter! After (or during) such time you should log onto the offical “Earth Hour” website. ( http://www.earthhour.org ) and follow the instructions there to record your vote. I want everyone to take part in this! Global Warming is a very serious issue, and the world needs our help! You guys remember the movie The Day After Tomorrow? That could happen!

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Heeey!

I have so much to update anyone who cares about my life one! Haha. I’m not even sure where to begin. Let’s see. I guess first would be… I have a new job! Finally… I was beginning to think I’d be jobless forever. Heh, I really like my new job. I’m an Account Executive for Comcast (cable) now. That’s really just a fancy way of saying I do customer service over the phones. :P But I really like it. I’m having fun.

I’ve also got a new boyfriend. His name is Dani. Yeah, he’s pretty awesome.

On a totally unrelated note.. my leg just fell asleep and it hurrrtsss!

I’m so bored I’ve been watching funny or interesting commercials on YouTube. I’ve decided to share some with you before I go.

The Comcast one looks like a bad acid trip. lol

I'm Not Dead // Road Trip

Alright. I’m not dead. I swear.

It’s been one crazy week, or few weeks. However long I’ve been gone. Last Thursday I was sitting at home with my friend Daniel, when another good friend of mine Aaron Tyler sends me an instant message. This message said “Hey. We’re going to Asheville (NC) for the weekend to see the snow. You should come.”

Now, my first reaction was “You’re crazy.” but the more I thought about it the more I realized that I was not really doing ANYTHING anyway. So, I went and so did Daniel. It was an AMAZING trip.. and I’ve been holding off blogging about it until I got some PICTURES uploaded. However, that’s turning into one hot mess. Daniel’s camera’s cord is broken.. it keeps overloading the USB ports, and I’m still waiting for the others pictures. So.. I’ll post some when I get some.

We took the 12 hour drive to Asheville that night, with me and Aaron rotating on driving. Asheville was BEAUTIFUL. I think I’d love to move out there one day. I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was just amazing. People are so much nicer. We spent a few days up there exploring the state, etc. Of course… we hit up the gay club, and got drunk. The club there was pretty awesome.

On the way back, we decided to make an out of the way stop in Atlanta, GA. It was alright in Atlanta I guess. It was a lot like Fort Lauderdale (home) with a country accent. That’s how I saw it anyway. We spent most of our time there exploring the huge mall, and the “gay district” which consisted of mostly coffee shops and book stores. We spent the night at one of Brandon’s friend’s house. It was some sort of house party that ended in the consumption of “boxed wine” and THE most vindictive game of truth or dare I’ve ever played in my life.

The ride back took forever and a day. We left at night, so we ended up having to make stops to sleep. We got back on Tuesday afternoon. So needless to say our weekend lasted a little bit longer than we had expected. However, it was an AMAZING trip and I made some awesome new friends. :)

Florida Couple Clones Dog

I was watching the news the other night, and on it I saw a story. A couple in Boca Raton, Florida (not far from me) paid $155,000.00 dollars to clone their dead dog. Apparently a few years back the dog died and they had their dog’s DNA frozen. So recently some biotech company actually auctioned off the chance to have your dog cloned. So.. Sir Lancelot (the damn dog’s name) lives again! You can read the full story here.

I don’t know about any of you, but this totally freaks me the f*ck out. (Yay censorship!) There’s something about cloning that gives me the “heebee jeebees”. It’s just so odd and unnatural to me. I know that the government is cloning people! I know it! I just have no proof. This whole dog thing has made me paranoid of everyone I meet. For all I know, they could be a clone. Hell, I could be a clone. Clones don’t know they’re clones. Freaky stuff.. haha.

On a less serious note. I’m going to redo this layout.. eventually. Also, I’m going to be doing A LOT more Video Blogs, or “VLOGS” if you will. I’ll keep doing text blogs as well. Be on the lookout.

Nostalgia

Does everyone know what the word nostalgia means? I do. If you don’t I’ll define it really quick-like. Webster defines it as “a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition ;also : something that evokes nostalgia”. That’s a lot of words to simply say “a longing for the past” isn’t it? I love how dictionaries are so elaborate in their definitions. I guess they’d have to be right? I mean we have way over 250,000 words in the english language.. but I digress.

Lately I’ve been feeling very nostalgic (what a fun word to say!) in the fact that I miss all the old TV shows I use to watch growing up. It’s also been making me feel very old that A LOT of the shows I watched growing up are now appearing on Nick at Night. A time slot on television that use to be reserved for the old black and white TV shows like “I Love Lucy” or “I Dream of Jeannie” or “Mr. Ed”. Nick at Night’s new lineup is now filled with TV shows I use to like as a child. Like “The Fresh Price of Bel-air” and “The George Lopez Show” along with a few others. I just don’t understand how and when these shows became old enough to be aired on Nick at Night.. I guess I should just be grateful that the shows I loved so much are still even being aired at all, right? Although, there are quite a few shows I love that I never see on television anymore. I’m going to give you the top ~~five~~ three shows I loved growing up.

NUMBER ONE - Rocco’s Modern Life

I think Rocco’s Modern Life was a favorite for every single 90’s kid out there. This is one of the shows that I love to watch now that I’m older and pick out all the dirty jokes and innuendoes made in the cartoon for the older crowd that I didn’t quite get when I was just a wee-lad. Anywho, if memory serves me correctly the show was about Rocco, a wallaby living with his cute little dog Spunky. The show was pretty much Rocco getting into funny antic’s and situations with his two best-friends Heffer - An over-eating and over-weight Steer, and Wilber a turtle who could probably stand to use a couple of Zanax as the poor clostro-agora-aracna-and-any-other-aphobic you could think of was always sprawled out on his back quoting “I’m nauseous, I’m nauseous”.

NUMBER TWO - AHH! REAL MONSTERS!

I absolutely loved this show. The show was about a school of adolescent monsters enrolled in some sort of a “scare academy” in which they are being taught to scare humans. The show revolved around it’s three main characters Ickis, Oblina, and Krumm. The three are somewhat of “best-friends” and often end up in the human world either on scare missions from school or just accidently somehow. My favorite character was Ickis who was a magenta monster with long floppy ears. This caused him to often get mistaken for a rabbit in the human world. Next was Krumm who’s eyeballs were not attached to his body, he always carried them around in his hand, his way of scaring people was with his nasty under-arm odor. And Oblina was of course the smart know-it-all and always saving everyone’s ass character. I guess she’s cool. She looks kind of like a black and white candy cane if you’d ask me tho… that’s just creepy.

NUMBER THREE - Invader Zim!

I’m not sure exactly how nostalgic you can call this show, but nonetheless it’s gone and I miss it! The show was amazing, although I do kind of agree with Nick’s decision to cancel it. It really didn’t have anything to do with popularity as the show was still immensely popular, but the show was so damn demented! I loved it! I just don’t think it should have been on Nickelodeon where little children would be watching the show. The show was created by Johen Vasquez, the same guy who writes the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comic books. Nick limited the dimension of Invader Zim I’m sure. I wish I could have seen it to it’s full potential. I think the show would have been better suited on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim rather than Nickelodeon.

Other shows I loved but won’t be writing a bio about were: Rugrats, Doug, Kenan and Kel, All That (the original), Power Rangers (the original) and some others I can’t think of.

Are there any shows or anything really that any one else feels nostalgic for? I wanna hear about it.

Alexis Bledel

Okay, so I absolutely LOVE Alexis Bledel. I also love being green. Apparently and according to MySpace “Alexis Bledel is so green-minded that even her traveling pants won’t travel unless it’s in a hybrid car.”

At least they did admit that the joke was bad. They were taking a shot at her being all cute and funny in this little eco-friendly promo she did. Which I will post below.. and you will watch

I’m back from the dead! (I think)

Short story: Now using Tumblr for my blogging. Cute News gave me issues mostly with being spammed. Hopefully this will be far more permanent.

How was the new year and holidays for everyone? With the exception of a new cell phone (mine makes me angry) I got everything I wanted for Christmas. Most prized is my new GPS! No longer shall I be getting lost and making 27 unnecessary U-Turns! Now I have a woman with a slight speech impediment telling me where and when to turn and a brightly colored map to help me visualize it! The other MAJOR gift I got was an ORIGINAL 1993 Movie Poster of the Nightmare Before Christmas autographed by TIM BURTON! I’m so excited. I know the poster is worth 300 without the autograph. Thanks to wonderful boyfriend for my priceless present!

You know what always use to bug me about the holidays? (Especially working in Retail) There’s no appropriate way to say it. You can’t say “Merry Christmas” because if they don’t celebrate Christmas they get offended.. so society started saying “Happy Holidays” of course you can’t say that either. Trust me, I’ve tried. You go on and say “Thank you for your purchase madam, Happy Holidays!” I guarantee you that the woman will turn around and say something stupid. Now, by stupid I mean she will most likely rant about whatever her holiday is (most often Christmas) and how she is SO offended that you could not wish her a Merry Christmas because you’re too busy being politically correct and worrying about others feelings.

You can’t win. If I can give you advise.. do what I started doing. Don’t wish them anything! Just say Have a Nice Day. If they say Happy Holidays to you, you say Happy Holidays back.. if a person says Merry Christmas to you, you wish it right back. When someone says “Happy Goat Molestation Day” you have to make a choice. Either wish it back to be polite.. or run as quick as you can to hide any near by goats.

Anyhow, I hope everybody’s whatever you celebrated was wonderful. I also hope that 2009 brings you whatever you resolutionized (made up word) yourself to do.

My resolution, was to have one next year.

PS: We’re one year closer to 2012.. what’s everyone’s opinion on that?
